(Lathyrus sativus) The seeds of this unusual cousin of the sweet pea are rumoured to have been found in the tomb of King Tutankhamun. The flowers are smaller than sweet peas but they more than make up for their size with their vibrant colour. This small-flowered pea reaches up to 3 feet, and is adaptable to both cool and hot regions alike. Very easy to grow.
