Spencers
Location: /Sweet Peas by Type/SpencersThe Spencer variety began with the introduction of the 'Countess Spencer' variety, by Silas Cole, a gardener at Althorp Hall (ancestral home of the Spencer family and the late Princess of Wales). The significantly larger flowers of the Spencer variety differentiate them from the earlier Grandifloras - the petals are also more noticeably ruffled and waved in the Spencers. Some varieties of Spencers also normally need twelve hour days to bloom.
